Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is Moisture
Manager, and what is it made from? A: Moisture
Manager
is a plant-based hygroscopic humectant (a fancy way of saying it
attracts water and then condenses it) originally developed in Australia.
Moisture Manager is a blend of a plant-based active
ingredient and carriers, such as tiny bits of clay and a special wetting
agent that assures even distribution throughout the soil profile.
Moisture Manager bears a USDA Biobased Product certification. To read the MSDS, click HERE.
Q: What does it do?
A: Once watered in, Moisture
Manager goes
to the plants roots and adjacent soil, where it attracts and
condenses water directly from water vapor - in other words humidity.
At
99% humidity, plant roots stop absorbing water because they can
only use water in droplet form (above 100% humidity).
All that lost water then soon enough evaporates, and while it does, the plants don't have access to any of it.
Since
water lost to evaporation accounts for up to 50% of water
use, it's important to reduce evaporation whenever possible.
Moisture
Manager remains active for up to three months, collecting the
evaporating water and putting it where it's needed - on the roots. It
is effective down to 20 per cent humidity.
If left out in
the open, the active ingredient (a dry white powder)
easily extracts water out of the air at 35% relative humidity,
becoming a pool of clear water within 30 minutes.
Q: Is it safe?
A: Moisture
Manager
is completely safe for pets, humans and the environment. It biodegrades
in about three months. It is currently used on countless vegetable
gardens and crops.
It is not a GMO product - none of the ingredients used to create it were genetically modified in any way.
Q: How is it applied?
A: Moisture
Manager
is a granular product that is applied using a drop or chest-spreader. As the applicator walks over the area to be
treated, the spreader applies the product evenly.
It can also be applied by tractor using a pto broadcast spreader and hopper.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: Moisture
Manager
costs less than a nickel per square foot when professionally applied.
